Fairspin Review

This is the first review of a cryptocurrency-supporting casino website. Why did I choose Fairspin as the first review? Well, the reason is that this is a good example of a casino that offers customers lots of bonuses that, however, are not as good as promoted.

I have opened an account, read all the terms and conditions of Fairspin casino, made my first deposit and I was also able to withdraw funds to my wallet. Today you will know everything about Fairspin, its promotions, KYC and unfair bonus terms.

✔️ Is Fairspin legit? (5/5)

Fairspin started operating back in 2018, so it is a casino that has been working for over two years. I was searching for any problems or shady actions performed by this website, but I was not able to find any. While Fairspin pretends to be a blockchain-friendly casino, they have near to zero mentions on Bitcointalk, which is weird for a crypto-related entity.

As stated above, I was able to make a deposit and get a withdrawal back to my wallet using Ethereum (ETH). Taking into account the absence of the negative feedback and my personal experience, I can say that Fairspin is legit and will not steal your funds.

🎲 Games and providers (5/5)

The list of slots providers is huge, and I can see all the popular titles here:

For the Live casino the selection of providers is also great:

I guess there will be no issues in finding a game here, so this section gets the maximum amount of points: 5 out of 5.

🎰 Slots RTP (1/5)

Fairspin does not show the theoretical RTP for their slot games. They do show some metric called ‘Payout percentage’, but these are stats based on the previous results. This is not an actual RTP which shows the actual payout percentage coded into each slot.

Fairspin is showing some other game-related stats, such as the total amount of bets made, lost or won. But still, this is not something that I can use to understand if their slots are customized in a good or bad way.

I will give them 1 point out of 5 for the RTP section. They do show some interesting stats, but the addition of the actual RTP would be the correct data to show. s

💰 Payment methods (5/5)

As a true crypto gambler, the variety of cryptocurrency deposit and withdrawal methods is essential to me. This is one of the strongest points of Fairspin: the amount of crypto assets supported here is really huge.

This big choice of crypto payments is especially useful when the price of Bitcoin grows together with transaction fees. Some smaller coins, such as Dogecoin or Litecoin will allow you to transfer funds cheaper and faster.

I was able to easily make a deposit with Ethereum and the whole depositing process was pretty smooth.

I give 5 points for the payments methods section.

🚀 Welcome bonuses (0/5)

This is the most interesting part of the whole review. Let me show you how the bonuses work on Fairspin and explain why I think that they are unfair and misleading.

After the registration you get 30 free spins on your account, pretty cool, isn’t it?

When you click the Play now button you start to play those free spins in 4 Horsemen II slot by Spinomenal.

I have won 58.4 ETH from those spins, but these winnings are credited to your account as bonus money, that you need to wager. Well, that’s ok, because it was never stated that there will be any real, wagering free prize credited.

In order to clear the 58.4 mETH bonus, I was asked to make bets for 1460 mETH

After making small calculations it appears that the wagering requirement for this bonus is: 1460/58.4 = 25. The wagering requirement of 25x is a pretty nice offer. While I don’t know the actual RTP of the slots it is impossible to calculate if this 25x bonus is possible to wager back.

But after I scrolled down the bonus page a bit, I have found this section. It is called ‘Percentage of wager wins’ which is a definition that I see for the first time. I was 99% sure that this is something related to the wagering contribution.

Due to this reason, I’ve decided to contact the support team and ask for an explanation. The support agent confirmed that this is the percentage of bets that will be contributed to the bonus wagering results:

The contribution percentage is a common practice for different kind of promotions connected to wagering. The aim of the contribution is to lower down the chances of clearing the bonus for the blackjack or roulette players, where the RTP is really high and can be up to 99%.

So usually, the slots contribute 100% to the wagering requirements and all other games 5-10%. But Fairspin decided to make it 40% for the slots. They actually have no games that would contribute 100%. For me, this looks like a misleading promotion. You cannot say that your bonuses have low wagering requirements when the maximum contribution of your games to the bonus clearing is only 40%.

In my case, If I would only play Slot games, which offer a maximum 40% contribution, I would need to make 3650 mETH in bets to wager this bonus (3650 x 0.4 = 1460). So now we can calculate the real wagering requirements connected to the free spin bonus: 3650/58.4 = x62.5

This is an insanely huge requirement that is impossible to beat. The same conditions apply to each deposit bonus on the Fairspin website:

Just to make sure, that this works exactly that way, I decided to place one 2 mETH bet to see how much from that will be counted to the wagering progress:

From a 2 mETH bet, only 0.8 mETH were counted down. The message displayed on the site says that I need to make bets equal to 1459.2 mETH. This is a lie, as I need to bet much more because of the ridiculously low contribution percent.

Fairspin offers several bonuses for the first 4 deposits, but with these conditions, you will never wager these bonuses back.

I give 0 points for the wagering requirements section and I have to state that the bonus program of Faispin is unfair and designed against players.

📢 Promotions (1/5)

Misleading information continues to follow me in the promotions section as well. Fairspin does not offer lots of promotions: they have regular cashback and some tournaments that are most likely sponsored by the game providers.

The cashback promotion is something that I will give a closer look at.

There are three different types of cashback: monthly, weekly and one that is paid every Thursday.

The most interesting part here is the cashback formula, which does not make any sense. According to the formula the cashback is paid from the sum of the deposits and starting balance minus the amount of all withdrawals and remaining balance.

There is no explanation of what is starting and remaining balance, so I decided to ask the Customer support again. My logic behind this formula is the following: if I make a 100 BTC deposit and won’t play at all (my starting balance = remaining balance), and If I won’t make any withdrawals, I should get a cashback from 100 BTC:

  • Amount of deposits: 100 BTC
  • Balance at start: 100 BTC
  • The Number of withdrawals: 0 BTC
  • Remaining balance: 100 BTC

100 + 100 – 0 – 100 = 100 BTC

I had no doubts that the logic is incorrect that the formula is not properly explained.

The customer support confirmed that I am eligible for the cashback if I just make a deposit and I do nothing for a week. The support also said that there are no wagering requirements connected to the Cashback bonus:

Of course, this cannot be true. This kind of promotion would be already abused by tons of players, so I decided to do a double-check:

After a while I received this message:

The customer service does not know anything about their Cashback promotion and does not know where the formula is published on the website.

I have received my 5% cashback the next day. It was paid as 5% from my lost 2 mETH bet.

The cashback is paid for the lost bets, and the formula presented on the website is misleading.

I will give Faispin 1 point for the promotions. While the information regarding the promotions is messed up, they still paid me the cashback right on the balance.

🔎 KYC and anonymity (2/5)

Fairspin does not collect a lot of information about you during the registration process. They only ask to enter your date of birth before you can launch any games.

There is also a list of restricted countries, but you can double-check with the support if you can actually play or not. My country was on the list of restricted jurisdictions, but the support agent said that I can actually deposit and withdraw money.

In the Terms and Conditions, you can find the information that the KYC procedure might be activated after the first deposit or withdrawal.

In my case, the procedure was started right after I requested the withdrawal of 48mETH left on my account after placing one 2 mETH bet.

The verification process is easy and was completed fast. I was requested to upload a document photo and my selfie holding the same document. It took less than one hour for the casino team to check and verify my documents.

The large list of restricted countries and the obligation to comply with KYC regulations deduct 2 points from the maximum rating. Although I hate the verification routine, this time the process was fast and there was no intention to delay my withdrawal.

👨‍💻 Customer support (3/5)

I have contacted customer support multiple times via Live chat and the support agent was there reacting very quickly to my messages. According to my experience, the support agents are not that familiar with the information and terms about the promotions presented on the website. I will give Fairspin customer support team 3 points out of 5 for the speed of working but will deduct 2 points for the low level of awareness.

⚡ Speed of withdrawals (3/5)

The information in T&C says that it can take up to 5 working days to process the withdrawal after you upload the documents requested.

After passing the KYC request and making a second withdrawal, it took around 40 minutes for the agents to confirm the payment.

According to the Terms and Conditions, Fairspin can also add a withdrawal fee if the funds were not used for betting.

Actually, this was my case, because out of 50 mETH deposited, I have only wagered 2 mETH. But this time the withdrawal was confirmed and sent to me without any additional fees. After a while, it reached my Ethereum wallet.

I give Fairspin 3 points for the speed of my withdrawal and deduct 2 points for the instant KYC verification that was activated. According to the Curacao license requirements, the KYC is mandatory when the total amount of withdrawals reaches around 2k in euro. There is a way for Fairspin to delay this procedure and not to ruin the player’s experience on the first small withdrawal.

🌐 Is VPN allowed? (2/5)

While VPN is not strictly prohibited at Fairspin, their Terms and Conditions says that your account may be locked, and your funds confiscated if some fraudulent activity is noticed while using a VPN. By fraudulent activity all the casinos mean bonus abusing. If you are thinking about taking any of the unfair Fairspin bonuses, then using a VPN might be dangerous. If you just want to play the games without participating in any promotions, accessing through a VPN should be safe.

The fact that you can be banned for using a VPN deducts 3 points from the available maximum of 5 points.

🏁 Final verdict (2.7/5)

Fairspin casino might become your choice if you have different crypto assets available and want to have an opportunity to gamble with different coins. There is a nice game selection but terrible welcome bonuses. If you are not a bonus lover and never take the bonuses, then Fairspin might become a good option for a cryptocurrency gambling website.

Be ready to pass the KYC verification right on your first withdrawal and always ask twice about the conditions of any promotion you see on the website. The information could be misleading.
